India is looking to establish a single trade body named 'Trade India' to promote exports and replace the multiple export promotion councils. Deliberations have already begun to finalize the structure and function of the proposed centralized body that is expected to bridge the gap between the government and the industry and work on a comprehensive roadmap to achieve exports of $2tn by 2030. The new body will also have a mandate to promote export products and markets, identify bottlenecks and explore trade opportunities in untapped markets, while also driving strategy and "Brand India".
