Rising virus cases risk denting India's economic recovery

Unlike other Covid-hit regions, India has so far been reluctant to reimpose any more harsh restrictions. This time last year, Modi had ordered a strict national lockdown, causing an exodus of millions of labourers back to their villages rather than starve without work — spreading the virus across the country and inflicting deep economic damage.
