The Nikkei 225 in Japan fell 6.2%, the Topix was down 5.7%, Hong Kongs Hang Seng index plunged 4% and the Shanghai Composite down about 1.9%, South Koreas Kospi also dropped 4.4% and the Shenzhen Component shed 2.03%.
