Centre likely to hike dearness allowance by 3% to 45%

The central government is likely to increase the dearness allowance (DA) for its over one crore employees and pensioners by three percentage points to 45% from the existing 42% as per the agreed formula for the purpose. The dearness allowance for employees and pensioners is worked out on the basis of the latest Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers brought out by the Labour Bureau every month.

India and Peru to resume FTA talks

Commerce secretary Sunil Barthwal Friday said India and Peru have decided to resume negotiations for a proposed free trade agreement (FTA). "We have decided to proceed with the FTA negotiations. We would be working out the priority areas... Post September, we will start engaging," he said on the sidelines of India-Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) conclave organised by Confederation of Indian Industry.
