Centre to impose stock limits on tur and urad dal till October 31

The move has come after the price of tur and urad saw a sharp jump in prices this week. The prices of the two commodities have been high since early this year which has influenced prices of the entire pulses complex. Lower-than-expected arrivals coupled with good demand are keeping prices under pressure. The government has already allowed the import of both commodities at zero duty till March 2024.

Govt looking into airfare surge: Aviation minister Scindia

Taking cognisance of the surge in airfares on sectors where Go First had a strong presence, Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has put together agroup to study the spikes. “We are doing a full analysis on these routes and we will speak to our airlines to make sure that fares are within a certain level. We will try our best but it’s an issue created by an unforeseen demand-supply imbalance,” he said on Thursday.

In a relief to contractors, Karnataka HC asks govt bodies to bear differential GST burden

The dispute between contractors and government arose due to the entering of works contract before July 1, 2017, when the GST replaced the VAT regime. There were also situations where work was completed during VAT regime, but payments were made during the GST regime; contracts were entered during VAT regime but executed both during both VAT and GST regimes or bids were invited during the VAT regime but were finalised during the GST regime.
